An App to Detect Skin Cancer

An App to Detect Skin Cancer

The smart-phone age has truly taken a hold of technology today. Yes, there is now an app for just about everything. A University of Houston professor recently developed an app that can detect skin caner. Dr. George Zouridakis’, PhD, app, “DermoScreen,” “must be attached to a $500 dermoscope, which further magnifies the area of the patient’s skin that will be tested. DermoScreen will be targeting physicians who want to pre-screen for melanoma during patient check ups; health care personnel, including doctors, nurses, and health workers in underserved areas, remote areas and developing countries; and consumers who can use it to determine whether or not a mole on their body needs further medical attention.”
