Recent Surge in mHealth Apps

The demand for mHealth apps (mobile health) has been surging recently, garnering more downloads than ever before. According to a recent report from Flurry included in mHealthWatch, analysis of iPhone and iPad apps listed in the health and fitness category on Flurry’s platform showes “a 62 percent increase in usage of health and fitness apps over the past six months.” Flurry CEO Simon Khalaf says, “This compares to 33 percent increase in usage, measured in sessions, for the mobile app industry”.

The increased interest in development of health and fitness apps, and the use of those apps, are clearly contributing to this enormous growth in this robust market sector.

Studies show that by 2017, 30% of consumers in the United States will be wearing or will otherwise use a digital health app or device. This is great news for all mobile health consumers around.
