Do You have COPD and a Smart-Phone?
The American Lung Association reports that over 12 million adults in the US suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD patients with smartphones are in luck. You can now be informed if the environment you are in is safe for your condition. A recent study preformed by the International Journal of Computational Intelligence Studies, developed a, “system architecture that pulls together data from the “internet of things” (sensors and actuators embedded in physical objects that are linked to wireless networks), weather forecasts, the smartphone itself, as well as data from any sensors the user is carrying.” The data gathered is then available to inform COPD sufferers which environments they should avoid and which are not likely to exacerbate their illness.
